The Nordic Capital Financial Services Sector Summit 2019 brought together top executives from Northern Europe representing disruptive fintech start-ups, established banks and market leaders in the industry. The event focused on hot topics and trends in the disruptive financial services sector such as sustainable finance and talent recruitment.
The roundtable discussions covered a range of relevant topics for the financial services sector including Digital Customer Experience, People and Performance and Sustainable Finance with expert insights from Pierre Sir, Sprints Capital, Christian Hyldahl, former CEO of ATP, and Henrik Engsner, Nordic Capital.
The event also saw Anders Borg, former Swedish Minister for Finance, share his views on the latest trends and developments in macroeconomics and the outlook for slow but steady economic development. He stressed the importance of contingency planning with a focus on cost reduction, reduced complexity and increased transparency as well as finding growth opportunities through fundamental underlying niche market trends. In addition, niche bank Nordax, a Nordic Capital portfolio company presented the company’s growth journey as it transitioned from being a monoliner in consumer finance to a leading specialist lender in the Nordics.
“The discussions highlighted that the financial services sector is undergoing significant transformative change and that new disruptive business models which focus on meeting changing consumer behaviours are constantly and successfully challenging the established incumbents. Investment in digitalisation, in finding and nurturing talent and in the development of new sustainable finance products and services is absolutely key to achieving growth in today’s market” says Christian Frick, Head of Financial Services, Nordic Capital.
